San Francisco Part Two

Day Two started with breakfast at David's Deli. It looked very interesting as we passed it the night before. As it turns out, it was very ordinary. I give it 1 star. Boring. It is the only place I really wish we hadn't eaten....well that and the place we had eaten lunch on day one. Yuck. I wish those two places could have do overs. Such is life.

After breakfast we rode the Cable Cars! I had been to San Francisco back in high school, and we didn't ride the cars. I don't even remember why...but we didn't. It was the number one thing I was looking forward to sharing with Prince C on this trip.
Once we got to the Wharf area we walked the opposite direction than what we should have. I am not very good with direction. Whoops. We got a quick overview of the whole Pier Area. We also rode on another type of cable car -- more like a cable bus.

We ate lunch at the Wharf. At Alioto's. The lunch special was chowder in a breadbowl with a Sam Adams. Yes please. Prince C had a crab sandwich.

After lunch we walked toward Ghirardelli Square. We stopped to get some taffy. We decided we should snack on our taffy and relax on a bench for a bit. Here are some of the sights:

The water near the swimming club. There were people swimming in there!
Enjoying the perfect weather
Us enjoying our taffy
the chocolate factory
cute
I loved the look of this cafe. We did not eat there.

SF Dinner Day One

Because our first day was a little overwhelming I decided we should keep dinner low key. We noticed a Thai place a couple doors down from our hotel when we ventured back out after naps, it was on the list. Muang Thai.

After exploring some stores we could never afford: Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, Cole Haan, etc and a few we could: H&M, Oakley, Armani Exhange -- we decided to eat.

Clinton had Crispy Fried Chicken over Fried Rice and I had Vegetable Red Curry with Sticky Rice. Mine was so good. I loved it very much. I give the curry 4 stars. It was tasty.

We followed up dinner with a little television and wine (from paper cups)...then an early bedtime.

San Francisco Part One

A few weeks ago Prince C and I went on, our Honeymoon. This was our first opportunity since we got married to do something alone. We flew out to San Francisco on a Thursday and flew home on Monday, just an extended weekend, but it was just what we needed. Our flight out was very early, thank you 100 times to Court Jester Bert for taking us to the airport. When we arrived in San Fran it was before lunch, we were starved. We hopped off the BART in Union Square and hiked to our hotel before finding lunch.

Our first lunch was not photographed. I was on the verge of tears while eating my sandwich. What had I gotten us into?? You know the movie "The Pursuit of Happiness", well all the scenes with the homeless in San Fran...that was filmed in the neighborhood where our hotel was. I wasn't scared per se, I was just frustrated that we were on a grown up vacation and we were in a dumpy place.

It wasn't really that bad, it just was not as nice as I had hoped. The web describe it's target customer and itself as having "classic refinement and charm of a historic hotel". It was not that. It was an older hotel with no air conditioning, a broken elevator, and uncomfortable beds. I vented about it on Facebook, and texted my mom while Prince C napped. I cried. Then I resolved to suck it up, realize that we are not rich, and that we didn't have any other choice but to make it awesome....well that along with asking Price C if he wanted to stay elsewhere -- because Mom offered to pay for a better hotel, he said No so we stayed. I am glad we did.

Here are a few more photos from exploring on day one.

Really cute shoes at the Louis Vuitton Store
Pretty flowers a street vendor was selling

Vacation

A couple weeks ago Prince C and I flew on a metal birdie to San Francisco. I really want to write all about the trip - the food, the sights, the love - but I have been so tired since we got home. I promise it is coming. Soon.
