Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will have a son. I will be a mother of 2. Wow.

We found out on Wednesday for sure that we have a placenta previa and Baby G was wearing his placenta as a hat. This is not good. As my Doc tells us, it can cause fetal loss or Maternal hemorrhaging and death. That's pretty scary crap y'all.

Thursday morning we had another ultrasound at 830am and they immediately sent me upstairs for admission. We were not planning this at all. I have gotten 2 steroid shots and been sitting in a hospital bed for 2 days. BORING.

Tomorrow morning at 730 we will go into surgery. I will have a little boy by 8.

Wow.

Nora at 19 months 3 weeks

Nora is such a funny girl right now. She giggles and runs and sleeps pretty well and is pretty much a joy. She does have her terrible times too, I am not delusional. Tonight she swatted a plate of food out of my hands and she is still a swatty baby who smacks when she isn't happy.

The main reason for this post is for me to id the words Nora can say now. She is in a repeat stage so I won't count those words. Here goes:

Mama
Dada
Dog
Cat
Nana (banana)
Mook (Milk)
Baf (Bath)
Budles (bubbles)
Mo (More)
Juice
Wajer (Water)
Fowder (Flower)
Lilly
Dough Do (Dori)
Rover
Angel
Bus
Ewes (Shoes)
Cheese
Ella
Mama Norma
Poppy
Papaw
Nana (Nannie)
Gumpa (Grandpa)
Mees (Meems)
ook (Look)
Na (Done)
Book
Na Na (Night Night)
Hi
Bye
Bye Boo
Ball
Bish (fish)
Apple
Boat
Baby
Brudder (brother)
Deh (Deer)
Eat
Whoa
Wow
Uh Oh

She also Ids her flash cards.

Flash Cards she can Id: Cat, Dog, Fish, Shoes, Tiger, Train, Crab, Cow, Flowers, Ball, Apple, Bus, Boat, Baby, bike, duck, truck, keys, and corn.

She is smart.

It's been a while

It has been a little while since I have posted. I ran into privacy issues. No more expressing too many opinions. humph. I may stop blogging. I thought I was fairly quiet about where I work and whatnot...but I guess not. Here are a few pictures. Boring I know. Static.

I'm having a baby soon. Maybe I can talk about that.

9-11-01

We all have stories and memories about where we were and what we were doing 10 years ago and here is mine.
10 years ago on September 11th I was in class at Franklin College. I almost always watched the Today Show before class but this morning I didn't get the television turned on. I went to my Earth Science class at 8am with Doc Howald and then on to History with Ralph. On the way to the 4th floor I hear chatter about a plane hitting the World Trade Center.

At first I think maybe they are talking about a new political thriller type movie. Finally I ask, "What are you all talking about?" Their answer was not at all what I thought it would be. A plane really did hit one of the towers of the WTC. All I can think is that it must have been some sort of mistake. It had just happened.

The 4th floor of Old Main had a television in the hallway and everyone was crowded around it. We were all still in shock. It had to be a mistake, how could this possibly be happening? About that time the second plane hit.

I don't remember much after that. There are a few details that stick -- My Spanish Prof telling us to get away from the tv and get into class that we were already several minutes late. Oh, I still feel the burning irritation with her for that insensitive statement. Thousands of people were losing their lives! How dare you tell a bunch of college students to get to class when there are so many more important things happening in our lives at that exact moment? I remember Dr Chandler letting his classes know that we didn't have to come to class that day but he would be there so we could discuss our feelings. He also invited other students to his classes if they needed some philosophical and religious banter to relax their nerves.

The one thing I remember, and can still see sometimes when I close my eyes is the collapse of the towers... eerie and overwhelming for my impressionable brain. Horrifying.

Never Forget. So many lost lives. So many heroes. We are blessed. Our country will never be the same.

Pregnancy

Oh my goodness this pregnancy is so much different than my pregnancy with Nora.

-I am fuller than I was with her. I am only 31 weeks and I feel like I am going to explode.

-I can't sleep more than 4 hours a night. I usually do well from bedtime until about 2a or 3a, then I am done. Toss and turn for the rest of the night.

-Sadly, I am not as interested in sex as I usually am or even as I was when I was pregnant with Nora. Mainly I think that is because I am so full feeling.

-I am grumpy and whiny. I am ready to get baby Noodle here so I can love him. I love having him in my belly, but I am really ready to see and meet him!

shew!

2 things. First: Nora says "Shew!" when I say "Shew!". It's cute. I usually say it when it's hot and I'm toting her and my purse and my lunchbox and I've been at work all day and I'm exhausted, but when she says it all the "Shew!" in me goes away and all I can feel is love and joy for that baby. She is such a dream come true for me.

Second: I am going to be a mother of 2 babies soon and stepmom to a big girl. How on God's green earth am I going to be ready for all this? What made me think I could do it? Here's the deal, I know I can do it. I know that it will get easier in several years, but right now, and about once every week I get overwhelmed. I am overwhelmed with all of the things I need to do before Baby Noodle arrives. Here is my list:

-Get the carpet cleaned
-Get rid of all of Nora's clothes that don't fit and that I don't want to keep for her little girl someday
-Paint Ella's room
-Paint the dresser under the tv and the shoe holder
-buy twin beds, 2 dressers, and a bookshelf from Ikea
-buy Baby Noodle's bedding
-Train Nora to stay in a twin bed

I am also overwhelmed by the thought of having 2 little babes. What if Nora doesn't love him? What if the girls are jealous? What if I have PPD this time? I didn't last time, but what if this one is different? Scary. So many questions - So many insecurities.
