Abbey

Yesterday I put one of my doggies to sleep. Poor Abbey. She is eight and a half years old and I adopted her back in 2006. RIP Abbey.

The photo above is an old one - but it was from a happy time for her.

Here are a couple of my favorite memories of that girl:

-One time my friend brought over her little girls, Korryn and Makayla. Mak had french fries from McD's with her. I had only had Abbey at that point for about 4 months and she had never been around kids with me. The people who were fostering her said she loved kids, but at the time I didn't have kids so it didn't really matter. Well, this day was her test, annnnd she was great! Absters cornered Mak in the kitchen and was begging gently for fries. Mak put them behind her back and Ab kept moving her head from side to side trying to get to Makayla's fries. Mak never surrendered and Abbey never got aggressive. It was a testament for her love for kids.

-One night there was a trip to Kabutos and a trip to Krispy Kreme. It was a normal Friday activity (no wonder I used to be, ahem, tubby). It was late when the donuts got home so they were just put on the counter and off to bed I went. The next morning when I went downstairs all that was left was a torn square of the KK box measuring about 4in x 4in. Abbey looked guilty.

-About a year after she was adopted she bloated. Thankfully she survived that with flying colors. That night was scary, fascinating, and cool all wrapped into one. The vet who did her operation was a friend. He let us be in the operating room with him. It was neat. People look at me like I am insane when I say that but it's true. The first man Abbey ever trusted, B, got to help. Dr Chad Hennessy asked B to glove up and hold open the incision while he worked on the bloat. I only watched, but I am glad I was there. It was quite a night! Chad saved Abbey's life.

-Another man Abbey loved was Uncle G. Mainly because he fed her table food and played in the water with her. Who knew that girl would love the water hose so much!?!

I feel really blessed that when Prince C came into my life that Abbey loved him and he allowed me to keep her around. She was a wonderful dog, although very vocal. She drove him bananas with all her barking and trashcan digging, but he liked her.

Be good in Heaven Abbey. I bet there you can bark a lot, chase kitties, and the trashcans will be filled with things you can enjoy. Say hi to everyone there. Nana kitty, Little One kitty, Kaiser, Kaileb, Buckie...everyone. I hope Kenny and Annie are around to toss a couple balls for you. I love you big girl. I will see you again in Heaven someday.

PS - I prayed last night that God would let me dream a few dreams about you here and there, you know, give me some insight on how things are in Heaven, no such luck last night....but I am hopeful. The dreams will come. I am certain.

Rockstar Nella

A little less than a year ago I began reading Kelle Hampton's blog and have been blessed with every post. This is one amazing lady -- with an amazing family. In January of 2010 Kelle was given a gift, Nella. Nella is her daughter, she was born with Down Syndrome. Kelle's blog, Enjoying the Small Things is a simple documentation of her daily life filled with photos and I love it. Sooooo, here is why I am mentioning it here -- Nella turns one soon and to celebrate Kelle is trying to raise money for the NDSS. Her goal started at $15k. She thought that was a big goal...but after 12 hours she upped the goal. Now the goal is $30k. Who wants to help? Go here and do it!

My Strange Addiction

There are crazy things on tv these days.

Earlier today I watched Maury. It was crap. I shouldn't have. Oprah was stupid, so I flipped over to Maury while I was on lunch. Geez that show is terrible. There was a woman who had 3 children and her husband suspected all 3 were from different men because she cheated. I am not sure what the paternity test showed because I had to go back to work.

Anywho....

Now I am watching My Strange Addiction. What a crazy show.

I should be doing p90x with Prince C rather than watching this crap.

the end.

New Year.

Wow! It is 2011. I thought we would have flying cars by now.

Here is my resolution. This year, 2011, I will be awesome.

I will be awesome at work. I may not meet my quota every month, but I will get paid and I will help people and I will be a good employee for the company.

I will be awesome at home. I will be an awesome wife, mother, stepmother, and friend. I will try to be awesome at cleaning. I am fairly confident that I will fail at that but, oh well. I can be awesome in a semi-messy house. No problemo.

I will be an awesome amateur photographer. I will shoot more and be happier with what I shoot.

I will be awesome in bed. I will. The End.

I will be awesome in my faith. Church is a no-go for me pretty much, I don't feel like going and I know that is a total cop out, but I admit it. I don't go. I will read my daily devotional book and listen to Air1. I will be awesome at praying and awesome at giving all my cares to God. He is good in ALL ways and at ALL times.

I will be awesome at worrying less. If I give it all to God, then I need not worry.

I will be awesome at loving. I love everyone, or at least I say I do. I will work harder at loving EVERYONE.

I will be awesome at helping. I need to help more and be polite more. I will be awesome at that.

What are you up to this year?

A couple opinions

If you are easy offended, go. Just go now, I am not here to hurt feelings or to offend, I just need to rant. Here goes.

Why are people so angry? Why are they so nosey? Why do people get so damn hateful over things that really just don't need hateful words? Geez-a-lou.

People are greedy and mean. Here are my thoughts on why people are they way they are:

-They are mad because they are ugly. I mean, I am not skinny...but not all skinny girls who workout a lot are pretty. Nuf Said.

-They need to get some action. Some sex. Good, dirty sex. They kind that makes you all tingly and glowy...the kind you think about for days afterward.

and lastly

-Maybe they just need a little Jesus. Maybe they need some of that too.

End Rant.

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime

We got to visit with Prince C's Fam before Christmas, Santa came early! Awesome.

We had a lovely Christmas Day. It was really peaceful and filled with love and happiness. Turkey and Nora got more presents than they could ever dream of. Prince C and I did too. Here are a few photos from Christmas Morning:
Christmas Night we celebrated with Chinese food!

My grandparents from Va came in with Aunt Ruthie and Cousin/Superstar Rachel. It was great to see them.

We are so blessed to have so many grandparents still here with us. I feel that we are blessed too, because we have grandparents looking down on us from Heaven.

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year too!

Kelly Moore Bag

I am still hunting for a camera bag. I have been googling, etsy-ing, and amazoning....I still haven't found anything...Until today. Kelly Moore Bags! I love this Posey Bag. It is way cute. Help me decide ya'll. Pink? Or Grey? Both? Just kidding.

I will love it even more if I can get it before the big trip to San Fran!

Now I'm Not

On Christmas Day Prince C and I found out we were pregnant.

On New Year's Eve, sadly, I started bleeding. It has continued. I contacted Dr Steele's office this morning and her nurse recommended taking another test. It was clearly "not pregnant". Disappointing, but we know that I have a healthy reproductive system. Regular periods and no problem getting pregnant, it simply wasn't meant to be this time.

We are headed to San Francisco in a few weeks, maybe then. Maybe later. Since we had a failed attempt that would have given us an August baby to love, I think we are going to wait a minute. Having a baby in the late fall won't work as well with our life. I think we will put it on hold until late spring/early summer and continue to cherish our 2 girls alone for a little extra time. Maybe we can have another baby around Nora's second birthday. Another February baby? We'll see.

2011 One Little Word

This year I have picked Awesome for my One Little Word. I know it seems cliche and whatever, but I get to choose it -- so you, yeah, you -- shut it.

2011 is going to be Awesome.

Runners up for 2001 One Little Word: Rock, Help, and Peace. I decided, these were all good...but Awesome, is well, Awesome.

Happy New Year

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And, I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself. -Neil Gaiman
